what is reiki? Reiki
is a form of what is commonly known as "energy work". REIKI
(ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning "Universal Life Energy".
It is a safe body therapy technique that balances the body, mind,
and spirit which facilitates the healing of the whole person. It involves
the use of gentle, light touch applied to the body to transmit healing
energy. It is the channeling of energy through one person to another
in order to balance their energy field or "aura". |
where does it come from? This
healing art used the same techniques as the Lamas of ancient Tibet
who originated this system thousands of years ago. It was rediscovered
in the 1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Buddhist priest who practiced the
art in Japan. He passed this knowledge on to others who eventually
brought to the West in the 1970's. |
when i receive a treatment, am i "taking" your energy? There
is energy all around us - physical energy and metaphysical energy,
however you choose to perceive it. The Japanese call this "Ki",
the Chinese call it "Chi" (as in the Chinese Medicine called
"Chi Kung"), and for those who have practiced yoga, Hindus
call this "Prana". A Reiki practitioner accesses this energy
and uses it to balance the energy in our auric field which helps us
to feel healthy and happy. The practitioner acts as a channel so,
in effect, you are not depleting his or her reserves. |
how does it work? The
Reiki system works in conjunction with
both traditional and holistic medicine. Non-invasive and gentle, Reiki
energy reawakens the healing capacity within all of us. It brings
the body, mind and spirit into balance and harmony.
|
is there anything else i should know? Reiki supports and accelerates the body’s own natural ability to heal itself, helping to alleviate pain and relieve other symptoms while cleansing the body of poisons and toxins. Reiki balances and harmonizes the whole energy body, promoting a sense of well being. It also works with a person’s physical consciousness, or body wisdom, to help them develop a greater awareness of the body’s real needs, for example the right nutrition, exercises and sleep pattern.

what can reiki do for me? Here's a short list of what Reiki can do for you: *
Accelerates natural healing and balance of your body.
|
what can i expect from a reiki treatment? The
client lies fully clothed on a bodywork table. The practitioner then
places their hands gently on the head, torso, arms, legs, feet and
sometimes the back. The amount of time on each position varies, depending
on the client's needs. The client may talk during the session, if
so desired. Some report heat or tingling sensation coming from the
practitioner's hands, and others see colors and gently fall into a
deep and relaxing sleep. |

is "distance reiki"?
|
where's the catch? It is not a miracle. Einstein made clear the basics of the theory applied in energy medicine and Reiki corresponds to what seemed at the time like a miracle. The cathc is this: if you want it to work for you in the long term you will most likely have to make some changes in your life - especially as regards your way of thinking. I have made changes in my life and with the help and influence of Reiki, I am more relaxed and happier and more serene than I ever thought possible, and that's saying a lot.
|
what's in it for you? I
get to work doing something I love, and introducing others to this
form of healing is my contribution to making a change for the better
in a fast moving society where stress and imbalance are hugely debilitating
elements and blocks to our achieving peace and happiness. When I channel
Reiki I receive energy as well. It has a greatly calming effect and
works wonderfully in conjunction with meditation to improve intuition
and bring out the best in me. This creates deep satisfaction and a
feeling of harmony within me, and I can find pleasure in completing
the most mundane tasks. I can better remain in "the now"
and life becomes real and I feel really alive. |
When the mind does
not vainly grasp past things, does not long for
things in the future, and does not dwell on anything in the present,
then you realize that the three times are all empty and still.
